16, 18... close enough. What’s a couple of inches amongst friends?

well, to be fair. 1'6' doesn’t mean 1 foot 6 inches...

In a lot of the buildings I’ve worked on 16" doesn’t equal 16" either.

But 6" + 2" = 8", which is the “Cent.”

At only 18" it can’t go over anybody’s head. That’s the problem.

So, if 12 inches in a foot isn’t confusing enough, I’m currently using some drafting software that requires numeric input in the format of FFIISS. That’s two digits for feet, two digits for inches, and two digits for sixteenths of an inch. So, if you wanted to input 1'6 1/2", it would be 010608. 10'8 1/4" would be 100804. Yay, imperial measure.

Go metric or go home.

But 8' is much easier than 2.4384 m. But honestly as an engineer I hate the USCS system.

And 8 meters is much easier than 26.2467192 feet...

Nothing in the U.S. is a standard 8 meters, but many things in construction are 8 feet (lumber, plywood, drywall).

I can imagine it’s hard to convert to metric, but better now than later, right?
